Today I am sharing one of my all-time favorite recipes - my recipe for New Year Noodle Soup.
Read MoreI am not sure what to call this - it is a salad or a noodle dish? Whatever it is, it is a delicious creation in this week's fridge foraging. The peanut sauce is the clear winner with so much flavor, it would work well with just about any salad or asian inspired noodle bowl.
Read MoreI grew up eating black eyed peas on New Year's Day for good luck. We didn't have a ton of food traditions growing up but black eyed peas (and never ending football) on NY day was the tradition. I have added in collard greens and cornbread just for good measure. Write here...
Read MoreI make these meatballs every single Christmas Eve...or special occasion for that matter. They are inspired by the Monday night meatballs served at one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco, A16. I love how easy and rewarding this dish is and it also freezes really well.
Read MoreThis year I had the crazy and slightly ambitious idea to make Christmas cookies for everyone on my holiday list! I usually give out homemade candy but this year I wanted to do Christmas cookies. So I found my 10 favorite cookies recipes and created an epic holiday cookie box for my friends, people I work with, and colleagues.
Read MoreToday I am channeling Martha Stewart of the 80s for this easy and tasty holiday crostini recipe I created with La Brea Bakery.
I love flipping through vintage food magazines and came upon this amazing spread of tea sandwiches that Martha created for a holiday party spread many years ago. I was blown away with one how gorgeous they were but also how simple they were. Everyday ingredients put together to create something stunning. Inspired by these crostini I decided to create my own holiday spread using my favorite sandwich bread from La Brea Bakery.
Read MoreIn true Southern California style, this past weekend it was 80s degrees...in the middle of December! Even thought I grew up in Florida and am used to warm holidays, sometimes the weather this time of year is totally confusing. Where is the white Christmas that I see all over social media???!
Read MoreTonight's fridge foraging used chicken thighs, stale bread, fingerling potatoes and lemon. It is a play on the famous Zuni Cafe Chicken with bread salad.
Read MoreIf you are not familiar, Thermomix is a blender / food processor / stand mixer that also cooks, sautés and steams - it is basically my sous chef in the kitchen. For the past couple of months I have been working with them to create my very own holiday recipe booklet! This booklet is filled with some of my very favorite holiday recipes, made especially for the Thermomix. It’s available today in a special holiday bundle that includes a Thermomix TM5 and all its accessories, another Thermomix baking cookbook , and a cute cake stand. Make sure to check it out and let me know what you think!
Read MoreTo me, Thanksgiving is all about easy comfort food. Especially if I am hosting, I don’t want to be worrying about anything last minute. The name of the game is to totally enjoy myself and hopefully not stress.
I love to make food that is tasty but also can be made ahead. That goes for appetizers too - no reason to be making any dishes that require last minute attention. Enter my spinach and artichoke dip. I took the traditional spinach and artichoke dip and lightened it, by adding more spinach and artichokes, and the result is one of the tastiest dips ever. Also make sure to serve this with toasted crunchy baguette slices.
Read MoreIn my family, breakfast the morning of Thanksgiving and Christmas are just about as important as the holiday dinner themselves. So don’t skip out on making a delicious breakfast to celebrate the holiday. This Overnight Praline French Toast is super easy to pull together and the best part is since most of the work is done the night before, it can just be baked off the morning of.
Read MoreEvery Thanksgiving the same question comes up - what can I do with all of my Thanksgiving leftovers? There are only so many sandwiches that a person can make and eat before it gets old. This leftover turkey and biscuit recipe is perfect for all of that leftover turkey.
You could even freeze the turkey and make this at a later day. If you don’t have turkey, feel free to swap in cooked chicken instead.
Read MoreGive me all the chocolate please. Well, let me rephrase that. Please give me anything that has to do with chocolate and peanut butter. I absolutely cannot resist that flavor combination. And don’t even get me started on what happens when you put them together in a molten chocolate cake – it is the most unbelievable dessert out there. You should probably go make it, right now.
Read MoreHands down orecchiette (even though I never seem to spell it correctly - thank goodness for autocorrect) is my all time favorite pasta. I learned how to make it from scratch in cooking school and from that moment fell in love with these chewy little pieces of pasta.
Read MorePassion fruit wasn’t something I really discovered until I moved to California. Growing up in Florida, we didn’t have it for some reason. You would think that in a tropical climate like South Florida it would be growing everywhere. Maybe it was and I had no idea! (Which is a bummer because I love passion fruit.)
Read MoreI am a big fan of pizza and could probably eat pizza (or tacos) pretty much everyday of the week. Although that sounds delicious, it is probably not the most healthy of diets. Enter caulfilower pizza. When I want pizza but want one that is a little more nutritious, this is what I turn to. Although it is not exactly like pizza dough, this cauliflower pizza is pretty darn close.
Feel free to put all of your favorite toppings on the crust. I like old school pizza sauce, cheese and basil but the sky is the limit in what you can top with pizza crust.
Read MoreDid you know that you can use a grill just like an oven? Today I am using my Traeger to spend the day outside, grill and make dessert all at the same time.
I love entertaining and entertaining outside is even better. Today I am making an apple and blackberry galette with a rosemary crust. Perfect for a sunny fall day spent outside.
Read MoreI love food brands that remind me of a time and place in my life. Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee at Home is one of those brands. Going to school in Boston, I like every other college kid in town, had an iced coffee every morning, even when it was below freezing and snowing. I even interned at the advertising agency that held the Dunkin’ account and made some horribly embarrassing advertising campaign for Dunkin’ Donuts as my final project that thankfully has been lost (hopefully).
